At ~6 millimetres (roughly 1/4 inch) thickness, the mat offers a nice middle-ground between thin & ultra-cushioned. According to sources, a 6 mm mat “strikes a good balance between comfort and stability”.
It provides appreciable cushioning for your joints (knees, elbows) when practising on harder floors. For example: “joint support … reducing discomfort during poses” for 6 mm mats.

Good for a variety of yoga styles: flowing practices like Vinyasa/Pilates and moderate restore-style classes. Because you’re not overly “sinking” into the mat, you maintain a stable base.
